Key People

Mike Jenkins
Client Services Director
Mike combines specialist understanding of digital communication with broader commercial impact, helping to address both our own and our clients’ issues at a strategic level. As our most senior Account Director, Mike creates digital strategies that drive clients’ marketing and business objectives – and deliver the right results. Internally, he’s instrumental in taking the Positive offer to the next level: identifying gaps, guiding our strategy and steering our technical direction. In his time, Mike has helped a range of brands make the most of digital media – including Cow & Gate, Littlewoods, Nissan, and UWE. After starting out in engineering and product design, Mike caught the digital bug and became Development Manager at one of Bristol’s leading web companies. He later went on to launch Formlab Media Production in 1999, which evolved into the Positive you see today.
Kate Tanner
Managing Director
Kate co-founded Positive in 2004, and today is responsible for the key elements of our business, from recruitment and people management to financial, business development and strategic direction. As Creative Director, she is also closely involved with client projects, guiding the conception, development and production of our creative. Kate’s wide-ranging experience includes work with Rolls-Royce, Shell, The Met Office and WHSmith. Snapped up by London consultancy Williams & Phoa as a graduate, she earned her professional spurs on a variety of blue-chip accounts, gaining invaluable experience in both online and offline corporate literature and financial reporting. After moving to Bristol, Kate worked for a number of local design consultancies, focusing on corporate communications, brand identity, and product development. She has a gift for getting to the heart of our clients’ brands, and finding the most effective ways to communicate them online.
Brian Mansfield
Non-Executive & Strategic Director
Brian’s 18 years’ experience encompasses a variety of marketing roles: client side, strategic consultancy, and agency management. So he has the ideal experience both to help us solve our clients’ challenges, and to advise Mike and Kate on the strategy behind Positive itself. Starting out as a graduate trainee in marketing at British Airways, Brian served a worldwide apprenticeship with the ‘World’s Favourite Airline’ before joining strategic marketing consultancy KAE, based in London. There he advised brands like American Express, BT, Hilton Hotels and Unilever on a range of projects, before setting up his own consultancy, Yosemite. Brian ran Yosemite for six years, working closely with a number of agencies in London and the South-West, before the offer of a move to Sydney proved irresistible. He spent two and a half years running Blue Marlin Brand Design there before returning home in 2008. Today, as well as offering invaluable support as our Non-Executive & Strategic Director, he’s also part-time MD and Strategy Director of respected Bristol agency Taxi Studio.
