The Five Constraints: Thought Experiments in New Business

In this keynote address, Win Without Pitching founder Blair Enns shares the five laws or "constraints" of Blairtopia – an imaginary world where all creative firms prosper because of the operational constraints he imposes on them. With every constraint the audience does a brief exercise to reimagine the implications in their firm. Each constraint-driven exercise builds upon the next until a compelling, alternate path to new business success is clearly illuminated. Things that are initially viewed as limitations are ultimately seen as part of an elegant solution to many new business challenges such as commodification, margin erosion, poor client behaviour and the free pitching problem.
