Pop Audio

Although the unassuming pop shield is an essential fixture in the recording studio, music producers Jonathan Hucks and John Metcalfe recognised that this simple piece of equipment had many flaws and nobody had sought to rectify them. It was out of these frustrations that 'Pop Audio' was born. Pop Audio needed a brand identity that represented the wealth of knowledge and experience that went into designing their product range.

Mentor Scout

Mentor Scout is a leading online mentoring platform, used by many large global corporations including Xerox, Toyota, United Technologies and ConAgra Foods. Since its launch in 2003, it has helped its clients develop award-winning and world-class mentoring programmes. We were approached by Mentor Scout who called upon our expertise to overhaul and realign their dated brand, bringing a complete redesign to their online application.

Established in the same year as YouTube, Hurricane Media are a video production and content marketing agency, working with companies and brands of all sizes to create video marketing campaigns. Since its inception in 2005, the founders Jon Mowat and John Lanyon have achieved great success winning many awards and growing the team. We were approached by the Hurricane team to help reposition and create their identity in order to better represent the company and provide scope for future growth.

BBC Dish Up

The BBC approached us in late 2014 with an exciting 18-month long campaign they were working on called 'Dish Up'. The campaign is intended to entice us back into the kitchen with a fresh collection of recipes, mixed with some top tips on healthy eating, budget-saving ideas and fun ways to get clever in the kitchen involving the whole family. We were asked to realise the campaign's concept and create an identity that would be striking yet approachable.

Hawtrey Dene

Hawtrey Dene work in partnership with their clients to provide cost reduction, procurement improvement, business process redesign and business transformation services. As they approached their five year anniversary and were celebrating growth in terms of their team and client portfolio, they saw a rebranding exercise as a good opportunity to mark a new chapter, building on the foundations they had already set.

The makers of Trio approached us with an exciting idea for a new card game. The structure and rules were based on a Finnish card game called 'Paskahousu' which, rather crudely translates to 'shit pants'. Although a very enjoyable game, it has never been commercialised into a family-friendly game, perhaps in part due to its rather family-unfriendly title. We were tasked with devising a brand and visual identity for the game, and then to design the cards, rules and packaging.

United Nations - OCHA

OCHA, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is part of the United Nations Secretariat, responsible for strengthening and informing the UN's response to complex world emergencies and natural disasters. We were honoured when OCHA approached us to commission the design guidelines for their flagship report.

Das Horn

David Segall and Alex Chatham tasked Big Fan with the branding of their new product; the 'Das Horn'. They had successfully crowd-funded over $80k on Kickstarter for their Viking and German inspired 'ultimate' drinking vessel. The idea came about when David ordered several drinking horns to give to friends as gifts. When the horns arrived he was disappointed with the quality and finish. This spurred on the idea of creating his own 21st century drinking horn.

TapSmart is an online magazine that brings iPhone, iPad and iOS news, reviews and other tips and tricks to the hands of device owners. Priding themselves on enabling technology enthusiasts to get the most out of their devices, content creation was not a problem for the editorial team. Previously running under publishing company 'Intelligenti', the magazine needed a stronger brand presence to allow it to move forward as a well-reputed standalone hub of Apple news.

Financial Claims Made Simple

Financial Claims Made Simple (FCMS) have helped thousands of people reclaim over £35 million in mis-sold payment protection insurance, all without a single cold call. Driven by a set of strong guiding principles, FCMS sought to instil transparency and honesty into financial claims, providing exceptional customer service, all the while keeping things simple. We were tasked with helping them rightly establish themselves as a market leader by repositioning and rebranding the service.

As experts in innovation management, Wood for Trees work at gaining unique and strategic insights into a client's marketplace, presenting the best approach for realising a client's vision. Big Fan were tasked with creating a brand that would successfully represent the team's carefully considered approach, while confidently positioning the business within the market.

Viewfindr is an online platform that set out to showcase the world's hidden gems through the eyes (and lenses) of its users. Leading with its simple premise 'Find it. Shoot it. Map it.', Viewfindr aims to encourage users to go off the beaten track and locate the 'must sees' to inspire others. In 2012, Viewfindr sought out our expertise to work on the brand identity and front-end design for this exciting new platform.

Teaching Shop

Teaching Shop is a digital learning resource for those in the education sector. In 2011, the founders recognised the importance of e-learning as well as an opportunity to work towards creating a library of ebooks and resources for teachers. We were asked to devise the brand identity and accompanying website for the new e-learning resource.

Oliver Gosling Managing Director/Co-Founder

Oli has a very hands-on role as MD and directs the account management side of the business. He has a raft of experience in delivering web projects and has a vivacious appetite for innovative new ideas and business opportunities.

David Robinson Creative Director/Co-Founder

David is responsible for directing all creative output from Big Fan. David holds a BA in Fine Art from Lancaster University. He has 10 years experience working with clients large and small advising on brand strategy and developing brand identities. Before establishing Big Fan with Co-founder Oliver Gosling, David has built up a roster of clients from many parts of the world.
