We are passionate about eCommerce & software.
We love what we do, and we love helping clients succeed through awesome online experiences.
We ... do outsourced, end-to-end eCommerce for brands
Helping emerging brands compete in the competitive landspace that is online retail through our very own eCommerce platform, Flow.
We ... are an award winning development agency
Our agency team supports other Bristol based agencies with class leading Umbraco and SiteCore builds to bespoke .Net development to help them keep clients happy.
We ... build software to help eCommerce businesses win
We are building, through our dedicated product team, Seg, our MailChimp for eCommerce SaaS product.
We ... own and run a multi-million global online business
From Bath & Unwind, a multi-million turnover global website to smaller ventures, we keep fresh in active, modern eCommerce.
Koan began life in 2004, when its founders met and realised that together they could build a profitable business in the rapidly evolving e-commerce sector. With consistent year-on-year growth, we have been able to expand, both in size and scope. Our Bristol-based company is a multi-disciplinary team of talented, passionate people, who all share our core values and drive, and enjoy the research and collaboration required to create world-class digital products.
We are a cooperative, friendly group of people from all backgrounds and areas, and we believe we are stronger as a team than alone.
As well as the little luxuries - decent coffee, fresh fruit, Planet Rock on the Sonos - we also have a vibrant working environment that is based on learning, respect and collaboration. We exist to bring about measurable improvements with the software we curate, and we do this with a commitment to respecting development, culture and the different ways people work best.

I have a vision for Koan I really believe in. That's what gets me up every day; that and my two kids climbing on my head
Anna Spratley Marketing Director
My job is all about communication and building relationships, I need to be able to communicate the value of the products and brand to our customers & the relationships with our suppliers is key to running a successful business. The fact I have a lot of fun doing both is not something I take for granted
Melanie De Nervaux Managing Director
Operations is the Cog of the business, if one of the tiny cogs stops working the whole business is affected. I enjoy the challenges this brings and the varied tasks I get involved in. Everything from helping with customer complaints, testing site improvements and organising the warehouse move. Each of these tasks require a different approach and priority, sometimes I feel like I could do with having 4 arms!
