First entrepreneurs join Origin Startup package

Published on Friday, 14th September 2018, contributed by Origin Workspace

Origin Startup, a package for early-stage businesses which is based at Origin Workspace, has officially launched with six startups. Designed to be more flexible and tailored than a traditional accelerator programme, Origin Startup recognises that one size doesn’t fit all. Every entrepreneur begins a business with a different idea of what success means to them with varying levels of know-how and their own unique background.

Participants will be assigned a personal facilitator who will analyse the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges presented by their business idea and devise a bespoke 12+ week package completely tailored to their individual needs. This includes mentoring, workshops and training to equip each entrepreneur with all the skills needed to develop a robust business plan and take their business forward.

Head of Origin, Rob Hingston, said; “Origin Startup is about supporting new businesses and helping them to bring their idea to market or helping the business to scale up. Origin Startup is managed, created and delivered by experienced business people and focusses on accelerating progress to achieve results rather than going through a process.”

The first six businesses includes Bristol entrepreneur, Blue O Connor, who’s successfully crowdfunded £10,000 to create Kings Grooming, an ethical aftershave and grooming brand; customer services training company Inspire Customer Service; specialist healthy kebab makers Hoba Ltd; Colin Lee Berry’s Street Defence UK; travel experts in Northern Europe Where the Wild Is and breakfast subscription company Epic Breakfast.

Founder of Epic Breakfast, Oliver Edwards, commented: “What inspired me to join Origin Startup is having a mentor to talk through what I've achieved to date and to set new goals and targets each week."

Origin Startup is seeking applications from South West-based passionate, motivated entrepreneurs to join the Startup package. This is a great opportunity to start to scale-up your business with expert support or turn your idea into a successful business. Entrepreneurs either need to have a great idea they are ready to act upon, be in the process of starting out or further down the line and in need of support and direction to help grow their business. Origin Startup is open to local businesses and is sector neutral.

All members of Origin Startup also receive workspace, unlimited super-fast and reliable fibre optic broadband, IT desk support and access to the Origin Workspace Wellness programme amongst other benefits. More information can be found on the Origin Workspace website.
