Apprentice Award launches to bolster creativity and diversity, in memory of much-loved industry MD
In association with Bristol-based Babbasa and with the support of several creative and technical agencies in the South West, the IPA and Bristol Media are launching this year’s search for an apprentice.
The Ben Martin Apprentice Award has been set up in memory of the late Ben Martin, a talented and much-loved colleague in the industry. Throughout his career, Ben was a great advocate of creativity, innovation and diversity. These values, and Ben’s pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit, are well reflected in this award, which seeks to open the door to young people from all backgrounds and provide them with a real opportunity to break into our industry.
‘So many people I’ve spoken to loved working with Ben and valued the positive impact he had within our industry. Ben's wife, Debi, worked alongside him for 12 years and has helped us define this lasting legacy. We all feel that this award is a fitting tribute and look forward to supporting young people through this initiative.’ Andy Reid, IPA Chairman for England & Wales.
This year’s chosen candidate will attend SXSW, the world’s largest interactive festival, in March 2019. They will be accompanied by a team of agency professionals, to support their experience, mixing with inspired thinkers and industry leaders from across the globe. On their return, they will be offered work experience from the agencies who are part of this initiative, where they will be coached and supported for future employability.
Applicants should submit a video or short written piece (around 500 words), highlighting their creative and/or digital strengths and why they stand out, to email@example.com by 19th October 2018. Successful applicants will be interviewed by a panel of experts and the winner will be announced in November.
