The Bristol Cluster: Creating our place in the world with Sir Peter Bazalgette
Business in the Bristol cluster is thriving and creativity is at the heart of this success. Britain’s “coolest city” is home to world famous TV and animation studios, digital microbusinesses punching above their weight, and individual street artists. Bristol’s creative industries are attracting top talent, including graduates and freelancers who make it an exciting and vibrant place to live and work.
Last month the UK government announced new money is to be invested into areas of growth, such as Bristol and the surrounding areas as part of its Industrial Strategy. These funds will unlock the potential of leading creative clusters to scale up and compete on a global stage. (You can read more about the creative industries sector deal here.)
The opportunity for the Bristol region is clear - but how will creative businesses engage with this incredibly important process? We are hosting Tim Bowles, the West of England Metro Mayor and Sir Peter Bazalgette, chairman of ITV and leader of an independent review into the UK’s creative industries as part of the Government’s new Industrial Strategy, for a night of speeches and an open discussion on the opportunities for the region’s creative industries on a local, national and international stage.
Creative businesses across disciplines will have the chance to grow their networks and forge connections with companies who they might not usually have the opportunity to meet.
This event takes place at The Arnolfini, 16 Narrow Quay, Bristol, England BS1 4QA on Wednesday 20th June from 6pm.
Discounted tickets for Bristol Media members are available from the Creative Industries Federation website and cost £10.00 using the code BristolMedia18 at checkout.
Following the keynote on Thursday 21st June, there will be a workshop aimed at generating practical interventions to grow our creative sector. This is an invite only event but if you are interested in attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
