The future of talent in Bristol

More apprentices for Bristol: Clarks, Pukka Herbs and Universities come together for exciting event

Published on Tuesday, 17th April 2018

Bristol is set to be one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities over the next three years, outpacing London and Birmingham, according to new research.* However, are business and education providers reacting too slowly to this? With changes to the way the Government funds apprenticeships already in place, M Shed will bring together skills providers, educators and businesses to inspire leaders to act.

Next month, an event at M Shed is bringing together business and education leaders to work together to solve a single problem. How to we attract and nurture Bristol’s future talent?

In attendance:

  • The University of the West of England
  • Bristol Engineering College
  • Business West
  • The Apprentice Show
  • Pukka Herbs
  • Clarks Shoes
  • Innovative Awarding
  • Synergy Creative

The keynote speaker, Charlotte Bosworth,  Managing Director of Innovate Awarding, is already innovating with her company and large businesses based in the South West. She’s created a winning formula for attracting and nurturing talent, and has a programme that will help future apprentices in Bristol gain jobs in big business.

‘I’ve seen a way to work with young people to nurture talent, and we need to act now if businesses are going to get the best future employees’

Supported by local MPS and Simon Bennie, founder of the UK-wide Apprentice Show, this event brings logical solutions and a new vision for job creation.

The event seeks to create solutions to solve the skills gap in the South West, and create a new mind-set among business leaders. Instead of hiring ‘ready-made’ employees, they should instead be working to create opportunities for people without skills but with the will to learn.

If you’re a business owner, education provider or interested in working with apprentices, get involved! Tickets are available: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mylinkedinlocal-bristol-networking-event-tickets-44789222771
