Launching GoodFest: the creative festival for good

Published on Tuesday, 6th March 2018, contributed by Wonderland Communications

GoodFest, a new annual festival aimed at inspiring the minds of the creative and curious, will launch for the first time in September 2018.

Held on Cornwall’s Fistral Beach, the festival will play host to inspiring talks and workshops from local, national and international faces from across the creative industries, including those in Bristol.

The event will look to motivate, fuel the next generation of progressive ideas, and encourage listeners to do good and help make our planet a kinder, happier and healthier place.

Commenting on the launch, Ben Akers from Bristol, Co-founder & Co-director of GoodFest, said:

“We’re really excited to launch the first-ever GoodFest, bringing together “the greats of good” from across the worlds of advertising, design, digital, food, fashion, photography, charities and sustainability – on Fistral Beach.

“The festival’s aim is to inspire 200 or so ambitious and creative people to embrace positive purpose in their work, lives and future projects.

“If we can help fuel that, then the future of the creative sector will be an even more powerful one.”

On why the organisers have chosen Cornwall as the festival’s location, Ben said:

“What better place is there to be more creative than at the beach. The South West has always been a hotbed for progressive ideas, no more so than Cornwall, where beauty and boldness go hand in hand.

“If you’ve ever watched a TED Talk - GoodFest is for you. If you care about the world your children are going to grow up in – it’s for you. And if you want to be inspired to create the world you want to see – then GoodFest is definitely for you.”

Discussing the talks taking place, Ben continued:

“We have a jam-packed agenda planned with over 20 gurus from across Cornwall, the UK and the world of creativity, meaning that there’s something on offer for everyone.

“We want to get as many people involved as possible, so if you’d like to volunteer or you’re passionate about a particular topic and would like to speak at the festival, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Confirmed speakers include Sir Tim Smit, Vice-Chairman and Co-founder of Eden Project; Natalie Fee, founder of Refill Bristol and the plastics prevention organisation City to Sea; and JC, Co-founder of the Movember Foundation.

Hugo Tagholm, CEO of Surfers Against Sewage and one of the speakers at GoodFest, said:

“I’m delighted to join GoodFest and the cast of pioneers, innovators and luminaries working for the good of people and planet. Surfers Against Sewage is honoured to be amongst so many great speakers and we look forward to presenting our vision of a plastic-free future. Join us and be part of the conversation.”
