Video production company celebrates 10 years, after being inspired by David Lynch’s wise words “keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole” .

Ed Thomas set up Doubleshot in 2006 after sharing his concerns about setting up his own company with Twin Peaks director David Lynch.

At the time Ed was working for a digital agency in Bath, had a love for photography and film, and dreamt of one day running his own production company. Being the sensible man he is, Ed put his dreams on hold because of the risk.

That was until one summer, when he attended a weekend with Lynch in the USA, and met his hero. They talked over a Doubleshot espresso, and Ed felt comfortable enough to share his concerns.

Ed says:

“At one point, David turned to me and said ‘remember to keep your eye on the donut, and not on the hole’. I instantly had the motivation I needed to set up my own company – and named it Doubleshot.”

Since then, Doubleshot has been running successfully for ten years, producing effective videos for prestigious clients, from tech startups to luxury brands. Their client list now includes brands such as Rolls-Royce, Zurich Insurance, and Jaguar. They recently moved to their new studio at Spike Island in Bristol.

Ed says:

“We’ve gradually discovered our niche – helping businesses large and small by creating compelling video content. We’re also starting some very exciting new projects for next year… before the new season of Twin Peaks begins!”

It seems like some people can have their cake and eat it too.
