Bath Spa Media Buddy Scheme opens

Published on Tuesday, 12th August 2014
After a really successful launch in 2013, Bath Spa's Media Buddy returns for a second year. Inspire a talented creative student in the time it takes to have your lunch!

Are you an experienced film and video maker, editor, animator or cinematographer? Want to help inspire the next generation of film and media producers?  Share your experience and advice with a film and media student through Media Buddy, an initiative from Bath Spa University that gives you the chance to shape the future health of our industry, as well as your own business.

You know the problem; you’ve been there after all. Aspiring students want to gain commercial insight and exposure from production professionals – to see how they work, pick up technical tips and learn about the industry.  However, work placements may not be possible, so it can be hard for talented students to gain experience. You’d like to help but with your business to run, it may take too much time and effort.

So how about helping a budding film and media maker in an easy and manageable way? Enrolling as a Media Buddy mentor can significantly help a student to develop their skills and career plans without committing to employment or a work placement.

What’s involved?
All you have to do to become an official Bath Spa University Media Buddy is commit to having four separate one-hour meetings with a film and media student over the course of this academic year (October 2014 to May 2015).

Bath Spa University will pair you with a student ‘buddy’ who is interested in your area of the industry. We will introduce you to your student, provide you with support to help you and your buddy have meetings and monitor progress. All you need to do is register – and you never know, your buddy may bring some new ideas and fresh thinking to your own practice or business.

What to do now?
Simply register your interest by emailing and we will send you a Media Buddy application form to complete.
