The Set at Bath Road Studios
The Set at Bath Road Studios aims to facilitate collaborative working amongst Bristol’s burgeoning creative industries, of which there are now hundreds thriving in this ambitious and innovative city.
Collaborative working is important for a number of reasons; it removes the isolation of working from home, it allows like-minded individuals and businesses to work together, network and share skills and ideas and it creates a central hub for thought processes to evolve and become reality.
If you’ve worked from home before you’ll know how easy it can be to get distracted by all sorts of things from hanging out the washing to daytime television and you can fail to get motivated through lack of inspiration and ideas or worse, not see or speak to another person for an entire working day.
Working at The Set can alleviate some of these issues. Its collaborative base removes the remoteness of working from home and offers original and contemporary facilities, meeting and break-out spaces, recording studios, The Pilates Studio, an on-site Friska café and free parking.
The Set operates as a membership club where users can bounce ideas off one another and grow their businesses in an inspiring space which is close to a hot-bed of exciting companies as well as Paintworks and Bristol’s thriving Enterprise Zone. Existing tenants include a range of creative SMEs, such as video production and content marketing firm Hurricane Media, product designers Rudolph Stein, digital agency Wattle Solutions, ITV West Country and Bath Spa University media department.
Jon Mowat, managing director at Hurricane Media said: “Being in a building with such great facilities, and a broad range of other creative SMEs has benefitted Hurricane enormously since we arrived here in February 2012.
“Whilst it’s a highly creative and relaxed environment to work in, there’s an air of professionalism that resonates throughout the building which is perfect for our brand’s image and our ability to collaborate with other business-focussed creative companies.”
Each month, the space hosts a series of informal networking events that bring together these and other individuals and businesses for the chance to meet, think and collaborate with other like-minded professionals.
The events take place on the first Wednesday of each month from 6pm and have been designed to forge links between Bristol’s creators and innovators in a relaxed atmosphere over a glass of wine and some nibbles. The next event will take place on Wednesday 4th June 2014.
The Set aims to meet the current demand from creative SMEs in Bristol and those from further afield who are looking to move to the city, and is suited to smaller companies or individuals keen to build relationships within the creative community.
