Creative Leadership in a Changing World
“Creative leadership is about reaching out and embracing difference as a catalyst for change.” Derek Tanner, West of England Course Director, Common Purpose
What happens when you connect diverse groups of leaders from different worlds and expose them to real life challenges? You get energy, creativity, collective insight, inspiration and the potential for light bulb moments that make real differences. On a Common Purpose course, we bring together the widest possible leadership talent pool, create a safe, challenging and fast paced experiential learning environment and then step back and let the leaders inspire each other to greater things.
“Great course, great hosts, good day all round, thanks.” Gary Topp, Chief Executive, Curzon Community Cinema
“Brilliant – thank you so much. Very useful today – interesting speakers & lots of food for thought – as always.” Judith Hollingsworth, Assistant Editor, BBC Bristol
Common Purpose has spent the last 25 years helping leaders and organisations to manage complexity and change, running courses that are grounded in the real-world (as opposed to theory or case studies). At Common Purpose you learn with, and from, a diverse cross-sector peer group and contributors who are leaders in their field. You also get to join an international leadership network with over 2,000 graduates here in the West of England alone.
“Common Purpose goes beyond generating you some good corporate karma. Anyone who’s felt that ‘do something’ gremlin gnawing in their heads should give it a try. You’ll find much more than just answers.” Founder, Nameless Media
Creative leaders are managing complexity like never before and understand that in these challenging times they need to think differently, find new ways of doing things and retain their stars. Tough times can be a catalyst for pioneering ideas and opportunities, especially if you have an open mind and can influence beyond your immediate network. At Common Purpose we help to connect leaders and broaden their vision to grow and become better at what they do.
Bristol is one of the pre-eminent European centres of creative and cultural industry and talent with a growing global profile, boasting many creative organisations making a real impact in their respective sectors. Our past participants come from private, public and not-for-profit sector organisations including key creative organisations such as BBC Bristol, Circomedia, The Curzon Community Cinema, Watershed Media Centre, Nameless Media, Arnolfini, Arts Council England, Bristol Media, Bristol Old Vic, Knowle West Media Centre, Spike Island and Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery. These are just some of the organisations who have benefited from attending Common Purpose courses.
We will be running three courses this year. These courses are aimed at leaders in different stages of their career and include:
- Common Purpose Meridian (for senior leaders) – starts 2 April 2014
- Common Purpose South West Navigator (for emerging leaders) – starts 17 June 2014
- Bristol Profile – two-day introduction (or refresher) to the city – 25 & 26 June 2014
