Inspire a talented creative student in the time it takes to have your lunch …

As an experienced media professional, are you interested in helping inspire the next generation of film and media practitioners?

You have the skills, knowledge and experience desired by film and media students. This initiative gives you the chance to begin to shape the future health of our industry, as well as your own business.

You know the problem; you’ve been there after all. Aspiring students frequently can’t gain enough commercial insight and exposure from professionals – which contributes to lost talent, skill-gaps and poor career conversion.  Also, work placements may not be possible, so it’s harder to access talent streams coming out of university. And with your business to run, sometimes it just seems like too much time and effort to help.

So how about helping a budding film and media student in a new, easy and manageable way? Enrolling as a Media Buddy mentor can significantly help graduates’ skills development without committing to employment or a work placement.

  • 4 sessions over an academic year
  • Bite-sized one-hour sessions
  • Flexible, informal, valuable
  • Raise your recruitment profile
  • Identify new talent streams
  • Unleash latent coaching skills
  • Learn about media education
  • Nurture emerging professionals

What’s involved?

All you have to do to become an official Bath Spa University Media Buddy is commit to giving four separate one-hour sessions with a film and media student over the course of this academic year (November 2013 – May 2014).

In order to provide the best match for you, the Film and Media Departments at Bath Spa University will hand pick and set you up with your student ‘buddy’. We will provide the necessary review forms to help you and your buddy monitor progress. All you need to do is register – and you never know, your buddy may bring some new ideas and fresh thinking to your own practice or business.

What to do now?

Simply register your availability by completing the ‘Media Mentor Application’ form at https://careerhub.bathspa.ac.uk/employers/Form.aspx?id=111258 or contact Peter Tribe to be sent an application form.
