Editing and Post Production Workflows Workshop
Creative Skillset and Bristol Media present this one day workshop, supported by UWE Bristol, to guide TV selfshooters through a viable workflow from shoot to post.
The Workshop takes place at UWE Media Centre, Bower Ashton, BS3 2JT on Thursday 4th July from 1000-1700
Freelance rate £30 + VAT inc tea & coffee (proof of freelance status must be submitted at time of booking)
As this workshop is specifically aimed at Freelancers, we will keep a waiting list for PAYE staff and release places that are not filled nearer the time. The full cost to staff is £145 + VAT.
Who is it for?
Aimed at freelance Researchers, AP’s, Producers and Directors, this hands on course will look at popular cameras being used in production (from DSLRs to REDs) and learn how to deal with their files using various professional editing software. At the end of the day participants will have the foundation skills to ensure the best workflow for particular projects.
Delivered by David Neal, industry professional and Senior Technical Instructor in Cinematography & Postproduction at UWE, the day will cover the following topics:
- Camera codecs explained - from DSLR to ARRI ALEXA
- Logging and ingesting footage – Getting your workflow right at the start
- What is the best software for you? AVID Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut 7, Final Cut X
- Round-tripping (sending footage to other software and back again)
- Going to Audio software and back again.
- Colour Grading - Da Vinci
- Delivering files. What the broadcasters are doing now (and in the very near future)
David Neal has worked in Film, TV & Education for 18 years as a practitioner. He is a BAFTA member, a BAFTA Mentor and a committee member of the Royal Television Society, West of England. Working in London and Bristol, David has worked on many broadcast programmes and a number of feature films. He teaches as Senior Technical Instructor in Cinematography & Postproduction at UWE, Bristol.
Alongside teaching, David keeps busy as a filming / workflow consultant. He has recently edit produced over 30 videos for the RTS Awards, filmed the odd bird in high-speed for the One Show and was Phantom camera operator for an ongoing BBC / Bristol Uni R&D project that involved filming an awful lot of pyrotechnics! David is currently directing a music video to be released in the summer.
