New hi-tech collaboration space launched in Bristol

Published on Monday, 15th April 2013
An innovative new workspace aimed at forging links between Bristol's creators and innovators opens on 1st May 2013

The Set - as the space will be called - is a hi-tech, design-led office area based at Bath Road Studios - already home to ITV West Country, Films @ 59 and Hurricane Media amongst others.

Run by the London-based property company Cube, The Set will operate as a membership club where like-minded businesses can network and share skills and ideas.  Its collaborative base removes the isolation of working from home, while offering contemporary facilities designed by Bristol firm Utopia.

The idea is that users can bounce ideas off one another and grow their businesses in an inspiring space which is close to a hot-bed of exciting companies and recording studios as well as The Paintworks and Bristol’s burgeoning Enterprise Zone.

There will be daily, monthly and annual memberships on offer and members can benefit from superfast fibre optic broadband, bespoke contemporary workspace, meeting rooms, break-out zones, printers and a series of monthly events.

The Set aims to meet the current demand from creative SMEs in Bristol and those from further afield who are looking to move to the city, and is suited to smaller companies or individuals keen to build relationships within the creative community.

Ruari Laidlaw of the building's owners, Cube Real Estate, explains: "We recognise that the way people interact with their workplace is changing. People want more than just office space - they want to collaborate and bounce off other minds - and they want flexibility. We have designed a space which is encouraging to both group and individual work and where members can drop in to meet, think and create.

"Users of The Set will be joining the hotbed of exciting companies already at Bath Road Studios and also have access to the Friska organic café, Pilates studio, recording studios and ample parking.

"We wanted to deliver the best environment for businesses to flourish. They require the best in cutting-edge facilities and a vibrant community in which to grow and we have created The Set to meet this demand."

This is the first development of this kind by Cube Real Estate and if it proves a hit, they will be rolling out the design model to their other buildings across the UK.

To celebrate the opening of The Set, Cube is holding an Open Doors event on May 1, 2013 which is open to everybody and aims to show potential members just what the concept is all about. Register your interest to attend the invite by e-mailing Chloe Appleton on bathroadstudios1@managed-sites.co.uk or calling 0117 941 8508.

Those attending the event will be offered a special discount on membership, a tour of the facilities and can enjoy a live graffiti event with drinks and canapés.

Monthly membership of The Set is offered at £250 per calendar month, pay as you go, but annual membership is offered at £200 per month. Daily membership is offered at £30 a day with a £250 joining fee but introductory rates are available.

The membership covers all rent, business rates, service charges and building insurance.
