Job description

Organising the hiring process for our coding bootcamp graduates; growing our hiring partner network; matching our alumni pool to mid and senior roles.

About Develop Me

We are a tech career accelerator We exist to empower people through education. As a company we are passionate about supporting a diverse generation of tech talent with innovative, commercially-relevant education, in the form of intensive short courses.

Our core learning programmes are: a 16-week Coding Fellowship Bootcamp programme for complete beginners wanting to enter the tech industry; a 6 week part-time front-end web development course and a 10 week part-time User Experience (UX) Design course.

Our customers are primarily career changers, as well as experienced professionals in the creative and tech sectors looking to learn new skills.

Our 5-star rated coding bootcamp has been running for 3 1/2 years and has helped 100+ people change their lives and start new careers in tech so far.

We are a small team of six, consisting of three business founders, a Curriculum Director, Course Administrator, and a Teaching Assistant. We also work with a regular team of freelance instructors.

Our training space and HQ are both located at the Paintworks, Bristol.

The opportunity

We take remarkable people and empower them to learn how to code, communicate and collaborate. We have done this for 500+ people over the last 5 years. Our vision is to educate a workforce that reflects the full diversity of society. We are bold in our aims - in turn this attracts brave and ambitious people to seek us out. It’s these incredible people - our alumni - that make Develop Me the best place for tech companies to hire their talent and grow their workforce.

We have an active, and ever growing, Develop Me alumni community. Through our unique position as a tech career accelerator and trusted partner to our hiring companies we offer access to this highly driven and talented tech community.

This role will focus on 3 core areas:

Coding Fellowship Graduates

Our flagship accelerator course, the Coding Fellowship, sees cohorts of 12 ambitious, driven and talented developers graduating every 3 months. We organise multiple interviews for each student with companies actively hiring for junior developers. A large part of this role would be managing this process and growing our hiring partner network to give our graduates the best possible start in their new careers. We are extremely proud of our 98% placement rate for our Fellowship graduates - help us to maintain this excellent record!

Experienced Alumni

Our career support does not end at graduation! Through our links with industry and our hiring partner network we’re usually the first port of call when our alumni are looking for their next career move. We are uniquely positioned to help these alumni to find their next opportunities, but as our alumni community has grown we now need someone focused on this to provide the best possible service to our alumni throughout their careers.

Employer Hiring strategy

With our hiring companies partnering with us long-term we are able to help them achieve their growth ambitions. Hiring the right tech talent is hard, bringing us into the picture means they can reach a relatively untapped pool of experienced tech talent and get access to the incredible cohorts of students graduating from us throughout the year. We are actively looking to grow this long-term hiring strategy side of our talent offering and this role is likely to be instrumental in forming how we do this both successfully and sustainably.

This is not like any recruitment role you will have known:

  • it is the warmest of desks with lots of existing hiring partners that really believe in what we’re doing and actively look to us to help them grow their tech teams
  • We have access to an untapped and highly motivated talent pool
  • We have never, and will never make cold calls!
  • We are very receptive to new ideas and better ways of doing things - we have a lot of ideas on how we can grow this side of the business and are very open to exploring and testing any ideas you might have

Person specification

About you

First and foremost you will be process driven, highly organised and a great communicator with experience in tech recruitment or the tech industry.

We would love to meet people with an entrepreneurial mindset, who are excited by the potential of this role and the wealth of opportunities it can open up.

We have a friendly, relaxed and highly supportive working environment. You’ll be happy working autonomously - we place a lot of trust in our employees and couldn’t think of anything worse than micromanaging or being micromanaged. We also work very collaboratively - you will have the support of the whole team to bring new ideas, approaches and strategies to life.

It’s likely you have worked in a tech recruitment function for at least a couple of years, ideally locally to Bristol. That said, we would like to hear from people at all experience levels, provided you’ve served some time in the industry, for us it’s all about the person and the ambition, not the years of service.

You should be happy talking to people at all levels of business, and from all walks of life. You will be instrumental in helping our students to achieve their career transitions, and relish building lasting relationships with each and every one of them. Any experience of career coaching, giving CV workshops / feedback and mock interviewing would be great, but something we can absolutely guide you with if not.

In essence, you will be personable, effective and organised with a real drive to help people achieve their career goals, whilst realising your own at the same time.
