Job description

We’re Armadillo, a CRM agency based in the heart of Bristol. We work with some of the world’s biggest brands, including McDonald’s, P&O Cruises, Cunard, Disney, and Expedia (, to produce beautifully creative, and effective, CRM campaigns.

At Armadillo, we believe in the long-term success that comes from always putting the best interests of our clients, and the well-being and progression of our staff, at the heart of everything we do. As an agency, we are ambitious and progressive, yet at the same time pragmatic, unpretentious, and down-to-earth.

We are in the process of expanding our strategy and planning team and as part of this we require a senior data analyst to join the team. Data is a vital component of our agency and with solid growth ambitions in mind we are seeking to step-change the capability of the data analysis and insight function. We believe this will enable us to deliver more compelling communications, delight our clients and keep us at the forefront of our industry.

Person specification

Your key objective will be to uncover actionable insights from our clients’ data to feed into our CRM strategic planning activity. Supported by two data analysts (one junior, one mid-weight), you will bring your previous experience to bear by extracting, cleaning, combining, mining and visualising data. You’ll be responsible for clearly explaining your findings, working collaboratively with the rest of the team to turn them into action.

You will be expected to keep abreast of new data science techniques, tools and sources of data, bringing these into the business as appropriate. As a data enthusiast, you will evangelise about the possibilities of data science and will educate your peers via, for example, internal presentations and workshops.

You will have gained commercial experience in and be highly proficient in the following:

  • Data cleansing and manipulation
  • SQL databases, Excel, Power Query
  • Data mining and modelling using SPSS, SAS or similar
  • R or Python
  • Business intelligence and visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or similar
  • Building simple-to-use dashboards
  • Telling insightful and compelling stories born out of your analysis, including data visualisation
  • Presenting these to senior level agency and client stakeholders, both data experts and non-experts

You will also:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to explain complex things in a simple way
  • Ideally have experience of line-managing, directing and motivating a small team
  • Have worked in an agency environment on multiple client projects
  • Have a strong attention to detail
  • Hold a degree in a subject that demonstrates your high level of analytical and numeric skills, eg in Mathematics, Computer Science or similar

As well as the benefits you would expect, including contributory pension, cycle to work scheme and plenty of social events, at Armadillo you will also enjoy:

  • Flexible working
  • 25 days’ annual leave, a day off on your birthday and Summer and Christmas hours in June, July, August and December
  • Secure cycle storage, free gym and shower facilities
  • Fresh fruit, proper coffee, a selection of teas, soft-drinks and biscuits, plus a delicious breakfast every Tuesday

Armadillo is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability or age.
