Job description

The right words can build understanding, inspire trust and create growth. Brands that find and use those words thrive. From our offices in Bristol and London, we help our clients to win through exceptional copywriting services, content strategy, content writing and language consultancy. In everything we write, we focus on the effect our words will have on the people who read them.

Every day, our copywriting agency helps clients increase their reach, launch new products and services, grow trust and understanding, build a digital presence or stand apart in their sector. The best copywriters do more than write: they open minds and open doors.

Company remit

We work with some of the most dynamic businesses in the UK (and beyond) across sectors including finance, construction, energy, legal and retail. From annual reports to social media strategies, we help clients craft written communications that support their business and goals.

Our core team is based in Bristol. We’re exceptionally hard-working and productive and we’re looking for someone with a problem-solving mindset: a real self-starter. If this is appealing, you can expect to work in a fun and supportive environment as part of a fast-growing and ambitious agency.

Person specification

Who we’re looking for:

  • We care about our clients and each other, and we’re looking for someone who shares this sense of purpose
  • An understanding of the value language brings to businesses
  • Our reputation is built on excellent client service and the highest?quality outputs, and this starts with the first point of contact, via phone, email or in person – relationship building will come naturally to you and you will have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, proactive, with the desire to convert new client enquiries, manage one-?off projects and drive ongoing client accounts
  • Professional, well-?mannered and friendly, with a love for building relationships, even with the most demanding of clients
  • Someone who thrives on responsibility/accountability and working in a busy environment
  • An ability to seize opportunities to cross-sell our services to existing clients
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong presentation skills
  • A capable writer and editor, with strong spelling and grammar
  • Experience of project management and proven ability to follow processes

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing a portfolio of established clients
  • Taking detailed briefs for new projects – listening to clients and asking the right questions to get to the bottom of their objectives
  • Costing projects accurately – from the very small to the very large
  • Briefing in-?house or freelance writers on new projects, ensuring you’ve given them everything they need to have the best chance of getting it right first time
  • Proofreading and editing work as it comes back from writers, before the client sees it, and/or delivering constructive feedback to writers
  • Attending client meetings – for new business purposes, to take a brief or simply to catch up and develop the relationship
  • Responding to new requests for information and proposals via phone and email – you’ll often be the first point of contact and first impressions are everything
  • Identifying and seizing opportunities to up-? and cross-?sell to existing clients – helping clients identify how we can best support them and add the most value to their business
  • Keeping the team updated on any new projects, your workload etc. to make sure we’re all working together to give clients the best service
  • Attending networking events as and when required
  • Attending regular team meetings, contributing new ideas and helping to build on Stratton Craig’s reputation as a leading copywriting and language consultancy
