We are currently recruiting for a Content Editor to join our dedicated team in Bristol or Bingley. This is a fixed term contract for 8 months, 3 days a week.

You would be responsible for the end-to-end content management of various products/ projects, ensuring quality and timely publication of content to an agreed set of key performance indicators. 

As a Content Editor, you will also be responsible for ensuring that content is produced to the highest professional standards of quality and delivered to agreed client brief and deadlines.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate content creation and delivery across a variety of products on schedule
Research and create content in response to briefs / client requirements
Display a confident tone of voice, which speaks to the brand values of Emerald Publishing or the Client
Manage editorial tasks for client projects in line with the project schedule through to delivery
When required, liaise directly with the client to define the brief or content progress, maintaining awareness to the commercial agreements in place.
Provide timely reports and updates as required
Manage external supplier relationships (e.g. freelancers) and oversee content production where required
Contribute to internal project groups and preparation of incoming bids/tenders as the ‘editorial expert’. Accurate proofreading to house style or client house style as directed
Take responsibility for personal development plan and proactively seek opportunities for learning and progression both through ‘on the job’ activities and formal learning

Person specification

Educational level and experience:

University degree in a relevant field, or equivalent
Minimum 2 years publishing or equivalent industry experience desirable
Specialist / scientific background advantageous

Experience and Knowledge:

Publishing or journalism experience such as writing and editing to a brief within deadlines.
Experience and/or proven interest in science communication, Higher education/ Research and development landscapes, and/or public engagement is advantageous
Experience in writing for the web and in social media

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Editing / copy-editing / proof-reading (baseline knowledge)
Sound editorial judgement, and nose for a good story
Organisational skills / project management
Excellent relationship management and ability to convey editorial recommendations persuasively.
Problem solving skills
Interpersonal skills and collaborative approach, with the ability to engage and influence cross-functionally at all levels
Demonstration of creativity and implementation of new ideas
