Acclaimed screenwriter and BAFTA winner Bob Baker has a career that spans over 50 years. He has written for film, television and theatre with a long list of credits across all genres. Whether its drama, fantasy, science fiction, crime or comedy, Bob Baker has done it all!
Bristol born and forming a successful writing partnership with David Martin. Bob Baker is remembered for writing memorable episodes of Doctor Who for Tom Baker and John Pertwee. He invented the Time Lords dog companion K-9, which eventually was made under Bob's guidance into a TV series for a new generation. He wrote episodes for the popular programmes Shoestring and Bergerac. Was HTV's script editor for several years. Co-wrote the Wallace and Gromit shorts and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit feature. Won two BAFTA awards. Whilst also writing the cult fantasy TV series Sky, King of the Castle, Into the Labyrinth and the television features Thick As Thieves and Machinegunnner, which both starred Leonard Rossiter.
Bob Baker joins CineMe and Books Talk Back for a question / answer session, where he will discuss his golden rules on screenwriting. He will talk in detail on script formatting, structure, creating ideas, characters, plots and writing for specific genres. He will talk about how to sell your script and will be offering advice to people seeking a career in TV and film.
The night will also include discussion on Bob's career with film excerpts to illustrate points raised and provide examples of his work. Expect humour, anecdotes, stories and important advise from one of Britain's national treasures in screenwriting. An evening not to be missed by any TV fan, nostalgist or any one looking to write for film or television.
