Slapstick Festival 2016

Silent Comedy Western Double Bill
with Rick Wakeman and Ian Lavender

Continuing Slapstick Festival’s celebration of silent comedy westerns, prog rock legend, keyboard virtuoso and ‘grumpy old man’ Rick Wakeman and ‘stupid boy’ Private Pike (AKA actor Ian Lavender) discuss their mutual passion for silent comedy master performer Buster Keaton.

As mutual admirers of the great ‘stone-face’, Rick and Ian will delight the audience with their unique humour, warmth and how they’ve been inspired by Keaton’s stunt work and comedy.

Followed by a superb double bill of Keaton’s finest films in his homage to the great west, Go West (1925, 68mins) and The Paleface (1922, 20mins), with live score performed by The European Silent Screen Virtuosi featuring Guenter A. Buchwald, Frank Bockius and Romano Todesco plus special guest performers Adrian Utley and Roger Huckle. They perform the world premiere of a new score composed by Guenter for this occasion.
