With over 30 years experience as a professional cinematographer and director, Dave Alex Riddett has an extensive CV, having worked on features, short films, music videos and numerous television commercials.  After completing a post graduate course in Radio, Film and Television at Bristol University and various freelance jobs, he would go onto form the film collective Bolex Brothers with Dave Borthwick.  Throughout the 1980's, Bolex Brothers would produce several short films, music promos and TV title sequences.

In the mid 1980's, Dave began his professional association with Peter Lord and Dave Sproxton of Aardman Animations.  Early work included principle photography on Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer music video, together with photographing award winning shorts Ident, Next, Going Equipped and Nick Park's Creature Comforts.

After working on The Wrong Trousers, Dave was appointed a full-time member of the Aardman team, working as a cinematographer / director on a number of successful productions.

These include A Close Shave, A Matter of Loaf and Death, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Chicken Run, The Shaun the Sheep TV series and movie and The Pirates! Band of Misfits.  Dave was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects for Chicken Run, whilst renowned film critic Mark Kermode commented that Were-Rabbit had, in his opinion, the best cinematography of 2005.

Dave joins CineMe to talk in detail about his background, career, breaking into the industry, whilst also providing insight on cinematography for animation and his advice to people looking to work in the camera department in film and television.  He will also be answering your questions and CineMe will be screening a selection of film excerpts from Dave's work.
