Sound for Self-shooters Workshop
Where: Happy City HQ, 77 Stokes Croft, BS1 3RD
When: 24 May 2014 10:00am to 6:00pm
Sound for Self-shooters is a 1-day workshop for self-shooting filmmakers, photographers or video artists. It aims to give you the confidence to make quick decisions to capture decent (perhaps not perfect!) quality sound for your films when a Sound Recordist just isn't going to factor into the budget. The emphasis is on what is practically achievable when you need to be Director, Producer, Camera Operator and Sound Recordist all at once, so that you can feel comfortable working with the equipment you already use to make sure the sound isn't going to be a huge issue in post.
The workshop includes a mix of classroom learning and practical sessions working with radio mics, shotgun mics and booming. The workshop covers:
Understanding sound recording principles and issues
How microphones differ and when to use them
How to set levels and other technical specs
Develop your listening skills to identify good/bad quality on your headphones
Listening to locations and how to choose them
