CineMe Presents 'A Bolex Brothers Talk on Narrative in Filmmaking'

Where: The Tobacco Factory Bar, Raleigh Road, Bedminster, Bristol,, BS3 1TF

When: 25 June 2013 8:00pm to 10:30pm

For the June CineMe Shorts event, we're not running the usual short film programme, but are joined by Bolexbrothers producer Andy Leighton, who will be running a talk on narrative in filmmaking based on notes from the late Dave Borthwick.

After a career in light shows, sign writing and theatre, Dave Borthwick became a filmmaker. He formed the award winning animation studio Bolexbrothers, who would go onto make I Feel Free (1984), I Can Hear the Grass Grow (1986), Vikings Go Pumping (1987), Igors Horn (1988), and the feature films The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb (1993) and the Magic Roundabout (2005).

The talk will be presented by Bolexborthers producer Andy Leighton and is based on notes prepared by Dave Borthwick for a session with the UWE Bristol School of Animation.

Storylines/structure, finance/interference, revealing exercises, show less - suggest/imagine, visceral moments, embracing spontaneity, gags, dialogue aversion, commercial lessons and soundtracks are just some of the subjects dealt with and includes visual examples.

£6.00 Standard, £5.00 Concessions (Students, 65+). No advance ticket sales, only available on the night.
