TV Production Management

Led by Serena Kennedy, this series of twilight workshops will address the need faced by many production companies to train staff in the fundamentals of production management. Serena is a highly experienced production manager and consultant with over 50 TV productions to her name, including How to Look Good Naked, Scrapheap Challenge, Wifeswap and Secret Millionaire. **A Unique Opportunity In order to be a production manager you?re required to have a huge range of skills, knowledge and experience under your belt. This course explores the role, function and responsibilities of the production manager from inception through to delivery and will equip you with the tools to take on your next production with confidence. The course will include practical exercises on scheduling and budgeting and participants will be expected to contribute to discussions throughout. You will get a Bristol Film Academy USB drive with resources and examples for you to use throughout your career in the PM function. This course will be run over five twilight sessions, 16.30 ? 19.00 over a five week period. We will repeat the entire course periodically and rotate the day of the week so that it?s accessible to all. Each session focuses on a different area of the PM role and participants are encouraged to apply the concepts during the working week and reflect in the subsequent session. The course can only be booked as a whole, but if you?re unable to attend any of the sessions, don?t worry: you can complete the course by attending the workshop(s) you miss at a future date (subject to availability). **Course Outline Session 1 - Thursday 24 January: Scheduling and budgeting a factual series Session 2 - Thursday 31 January: Cashflowing Production insurance Session 3 - Thursday 7 February: Contracting staff, crew & suppliers (Including employment law, status and rights) Health and safety: your responsibilities Half Term! Session 4 - Thursday 21 February: Cost reporting and progress reporting Consents, copyright and music clearance Session 5 - Thursday 28 February: Post production Delivery and clear up **Who Is it For? This course would suit production co-ordinators ready to take the next step, Junior or new production managers who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge as well as build confidence, producers looking to production manage their own productions, and other production personnel who?ve dipped their toe into production managing and are considering following the PM career path. **Requirements Knowledge and experience in television production in some capacity, and a genuine interest in the nitty gritty of production.
