Money for Nothing: Protecting your Intellectual Property
Where: The Innovation Centre, The Innovation Centre, Carpenter House, Bath , BA1 1UD
When: 12 June 2012 5:00pm to 7:30pm
All creative businesses have Intellectual Property (IP). This is a key factor determining commercial success, but is often misunderstood or overlooked. So, how can you be sure your ideas aren???t being ripped off?
On June 12th Creative Bath will be joined by www.eip.com, patent and trademark attorneys providing advice on IP law, patents, trademarks, designs and copyright.
EIP will share valuable insight into IP protection for creative businesses. This will include the forms of protection available, what they protect, how they are obtained, the common myths and mistakes surrounding IP and a discussion around general good practice.
This insight will be illustrated with three specific case studies - bringing theory to life:
-What would Steve do? Learn how digital companies can be like Apple when it comes to protecting their products and software.
-Is the Force with you? Learn how you protect a Starwars Storm Trooper.
-Come Place Your Hands: what have West Country musicians Reef got to do with IP?
The session will end with a Q&A, where you will have the opportunity to put your questions to a panel of business owners and creatives, all with first hand experience of protecting their own IP.
