What is Tech Talks Bristol?
The idea of Tech Talks is to connect people in Bristol through technology and business themed events, which educate and inspire.
3 speakers who will each talk about an area of technology which can help small and medium businesses. There is also tea/coffee and open networking.
Gary Turner (@garyturner) The Xero Story
Gary Turner subscribed to PC World magazine at the age of twelve in 1981 and taught himself BASIC in his parents' attic. He has been messing around with technology for more than thirty years and writing about it online for ten. When he's not been doing that, he has run a mid-sized software company and been a product group director at Microsoft. Today he is the Managing Director of online accounting software Xero, which was started in 2006 and listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange by 2007. Gary will be talking to us about the success of Xero and what we can learn from their incredible journey.
Vipul Patel (@socialspaice) The True Costs of Technology
Vipul has been working on the development of Spaice for the last 6 years. Spaice sells technology equipment but not after urging you not to buy. Instead Vipul encourages consumers to reuse, recycle or repair their existing technology in order to consider the impact on the environment as well as our wallet. Vipul's talk will open our eye's to some of the things we might not have considered when it comes to technology, and how we are all a part of the much bigger picture.
Javier Marti (@JavierMarti) An Optimistic Technological Future
Javier is a subconscious behaviourist, the author of Mobile, Domains & The Future and the founder of Hypnotic Sales and Trendinews. Javier Marti will be talking about the latest trends affecting the way we work, live and play...and why we can be optimistic about our technological future.
