Hurricane celebrates 10 years of video marketing
Award-winning video marketing agency, Hurricane is 10 years old this month, looking forward to its next decade of developing effective video strategy for leading brands. Bristol-born Hurricane’s growth mirrors the boom in video marketing as it has repositioned from a production house to one of the UK’s foremost video strategy agencies.
Hurricane was founded by Jon Mowat and John Lanyon, both with a background in broadcast TV at the BBC and Endemol. The two-man operation employed its first staff members in 2007, and from an office without windows, has grown to a diverse team of creatives, planners and marketing strategists with offices in both Bristol and London. The team now work with leading global brands and agencies, including Airbus, Asda, Canon, Sanofi, Peugeot, and GSMA to name a few.
As a specialist video agency, Hurricane was ahead of the curve anticipating the importance of video and is now well-placed to harness the power of moving images for brands by creating clever content informed by insight and multi-channel activation to ensure it reaches and resonates with the right audiences.
Reflecting on his 10 years at Hurricane, and recognising how vital video is to marketing teams, MD, Jon Mowat’s new book on video strategy, “Video Marketing Strategy: How to harness the power of online video to drive brand growth”, helps brands navigate the new video marketing landscape.
Jon Mowat said:
“When Hurricane was born, YouTube was also just in its infancy, and it has been an amazing 10 years for us as creatives and marketers, as we enter the video-first era. With Facebook predicting it will be all video in a matter of years, brands of all sizes now need to become more sophisticated in how they use moving content.
“In light of film’s increased importance in the marketing mix, Hurricane is well on its way to becoming a leader in the sector helping brands harness the power of video to meet their objectives. We look forward to the next 10 years of creating robust strategies for brands with the new tech at our disposal from shoppable to live video.”
Creative Director, John Lanyon commented:
“Hurricane has grown dramatically and expertly adapted to the changing marketplace, and 10 years on we’re still focused on creating compelling content that not only gets results but makes us proud. From our base in the vibrant, creative city of Bristol, we can tap into a wealth of talent, and nurture approachable long-term relationships with our clients.
“Both as a business and creatively, Hurricane is continually pushing the boundaries, and we’re excited about what we can achieve for national and global brands over the next decade.”
