Wildscreen – the conservation trust best known for handing out wildlife film and tv awards found out what it is like to be on the receiving end of prizes when it was named a winner in the Charity Awards – Britain’s most prestigious accolades for non-profit organisations.
It was honoured for its work in creating ARKive – a free-to-view online collection of films, sound recordings and photographs of endangered species.
Chief Executive Harriet Nimmo was in London to collect Wildscreen’s prize during a ceremony also attended by Dara O’Briain, Rachael Stirling, Kate Adie, Sian Phillips, Zoe Wannamaker, George Alagiah and Lord( Neil) Kinnock, among others.

Five films produced by Bristol’s own WÖNKY company, and directed by Bristol Media member Nick Mackie, have been selected for screening during the festival of culture that is being staged from June 29 to July 1 by Second Life, the 3D digital world swiftly taking over the net.
The festival, called Second Fest, is being sponsored by The Guardian and The Observer. It includes a a short film festival curated by the BBC Film Network whose selections include five Nick Mackie films from the “Hobbies” series. A visit to India is being arranged by the South West arm of UK Trade & Investment so that small to medium sized regional companies can explore business opportunities or find new contacts.
The five-day mission takes place from 10-17 November and will include visits to New Delhi and Mumbai (Bombay). Participation costs £1,500, inclusive of flights, taxes, transfers and accommodation, with grants of £550 available to eligible applicants.

Two of the Bristol’s digital agencies have teamed up to create a viral film for Triumph motorcyles.
Rubberductions and E3 worked on the film to launch one of the world’s biggest and fastest bikes, the Rocket III.
E3’s client wanted to create a viral film that would primarly be used across the global Triumph community and within the organisations many user networks but the last 2 weeks have seen the film appear all over the world.
The viral lauched 2 weeks ago on YouTube and has received over 160,000 views making it one of the most populay UK uploads this month.

Industry leader, Design Week Magazine has this week ranked two Bristol Media companies within its top 50!
Full Service design shop, oakwood media group and digital agency E3 are the city’s highest ranking entrants in the annual round up of creative businesses across the UK.
oakwood, ranked 42, leapfrogged an incredible 15 places from last year, have recorded the best year of trading in their 12 year history. From its UK head office on Park Street, the agency works with the likes of BP, Comet, Mattel and Hyundai and has seen substantial revenue growth over the last 12 months. It was also named as one the UK’s most efficient agencies in the survey and number 8 for print in the country.
Chris Jones, founding partner stated:
“We see this as a very positive move for the business but equally view this as a further indication that Bristol and the South West are now a viable alternative to London as a leading UK centre for design excellence.”
E3 moved up two positions from last year reaching an enviable 27th out of 100.
The Brislington based agency was also ranked 5th digital consultancy in the UK for the third consecutive year running.

“The digital world is moving faster than ever. Online spend went up 41% last year, seeing the biggest increase of marketing spend across all disciplines. It appears that growth in the digital sector locally is also outstripping other cities with more and more clients looking to Bristol companies for marketing and digital services.”
