Job description

Download Job Specification

First and foremost you’ll be a PHP developer (other open-source languages are available and will be considered) who loves nothing more than to get stuck into a variety of projects, frameworks and CMSs to build interesting things.

We currently support clients of all sizes utilising Laravel, Zend, Wordpress, Magento 2 and Concrete5 (amongst other things), but we’d love to hear what you work with and can bring to the team. If you can also find your way around Vagrant, Ansible and AWS (in a Linux environment), or you’re at least keen to learn, we need to talk.

While you’re strictly a back-end developer, any contemporary front-end skills will be considered very favourably. We tend to work in a pattern-library/design-system led way and we have a really good dynamic between front and back end, but it helps when the two disciplines overlap from time to time.

It goes without saying but you should have experience of source control systems, managing your own tasks and workflow efficiently and effectively, and be able to aid in estimating and costing jobs for both new and existing clients. You’ll have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, ideally within a creative, digital or UX agency.

To Apply, send us an email detailing why we should hire you, your CV, along with your portfolio / work examples, side projects, salary expectations and anything else you think we'd like to see to careers@goramandvincent.com.

Person specification

You will have:

  • 2-5 years experience as a back-end web developer
  • LAMP stack and ideally experience in at least one open-source framework and one open-source CMS
  • Can use source control (e.g. Git, Mercurial)
  • Experience of deployment tools (e.g. Capistrano, DeployHQ)
  • Competent level of responsive HTML/CSS/Javascript (even better if you’re comfortable with task runners such as Gulp/Grunt and preprocessors such as Sass)
  • A willingness to prototype quickly, experiment and push boundaries
  • A solid portfolio of well-built websites or apps
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
