Download Job Specification

We’re looking for a Front-end developer to join our expanding team. This is primarily a classic HTML/CSS/JS role favouring a pattern-library/design-system led approach centered around progressive enhancement.

We don’t have anything against frameworks like Bootstrap and we’re totally fine with jQuery, but an ability to code ‘vanilla’ and ‘roll your own’ is key. We work almost exclusively with Sass and if you can find your way around some basic Gulp/Grunt you’ll likely hit the ground running.

There will also be some lightweight server-side templating work involved and if you have general Wordpress (or any other CMS) development under your belt, this will help.

We don’t expect you to be a designer, but we expect you to be design-aware. We’re not overbearing pixel-pushing perfectionists, and we get that ‘browsers be browsers’, but a sharp eye, attention to detail and an understanding of the ‘why’ behind the design is essential.

It goes without saying but you should have experience of source control systems, managing your own tasks and workflow efficiently and effectively, and be able to aid in estimating and costing jobs for both new and existing clients. You’ll have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, ideally within a creative, digital or UX agency.

To Apply, send us an email detailing why we should hire you, your CV, along with your portfolio / work examples, side projects, salary expectations and anything else you think we'd like to see to careers@goramandvincent.com.

Person specification

You will have:

  • 1-3 years experience as a front-end web developer
  • A solid portfolio of well built responsive websites or apps/UIs
  • Exceptional HTML/CSS, preferably with a preprocessor like Sass and an ability to work without frameworks like Bootstrap
  • Solid Javascript, vanilla or with jQuery – we’re only looking for progressive enhancement type stuff, not Reactjs, Vuejs, Angular, Nodejs app development (If you’re keen though, there may be opportunities in the future)
  • LAMP stack basics and ideally experience in at least one open-source CMS
  • Can use source control (e.g. Git, Mercurial)
  • Experience of deployment tools beneficial (e.g. Capistrano, DeployHQ)
  • A willingness to prototype quickly, experiment and push boundaries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
