Based in Bristol, over the last fifteen years we have produced over 80 hours of high-end documentary for the UK and International market. We specialise in bringing together commissioners and have worked with all the main Anglo/American terrestrial broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, Five, National Geographic, Animal Planet, Discovery and WNET and distributors such as Granada International, Channel 4 International and RDF International. Our documentaries have won Emmy, Grierson and Chris Awards together with numerous prizes and nominations at many of the leading film festivals from Banff to Jackson Hole to Wildscreen. While Icon have a reputation for originality and excellence in natural history, with an established niche-expertise in the Indian subcontinent, we also work in many world-wide locations and across various genres - history, science, travel, anthropology and religion. This year alone - since January 2006 - we have filmed in Australia, USA, South America, India, Borneo, UK, Italy, Germany, Holland. This combination of hybrid vigour and robustness coupled with maturity gives us the ability to deliver logistically challenging productions to audiences with our distinct brand of top quality storytelling - while understanding the needs of broadcasters and commissioning editors. Icon have also recently produced a five minute film for WWF to illustrate their One Planet Living Campaign, fronted by Kevin McCloud. Alongside innovative ideas, we take pride in our ability to work with talent. Whether household names like Prince Charles, the Dalai Lama or Joanna Lumley, authorial voices such as William Dalrymple or Sir David Attenborough -or acknowledged experts in their fields such as travel writer and explorer Benedict Allen, herpetologist Romulus Whitaker or zoologist Nick Baker, Icon Films aims to bring accessibility, revelation and storytelling to the screen.
