My name is Helen Yates and I am a freelance stop-motion model-maker, puppet maker, animator and storyteller.

I am creative, enthusiastic, reliable, and am hugely passionate about what I do. I am incredibly flexible both in terms of creativity and availability. I thrive both working in a group and as an individual. I thoroughly enjoy the creative process, from the brainstorming stage right through to production and to the finished piece. I have learnt a lot from working in collaboration with others and I am committed to and meticulous about my creations.

My main skills are model-making/sculpting, stop-motion armature/puppet making, animation (stop-motion), drawing/designing characters, story writing and time management/organisation. I also have knowledge of the software Adobe Photoshop, After-Effects, Premiere Pro and Stop Motion Pro.

I have recently graduated from University of Wales, Newport where I gained at 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Animation. Since leaving university I have gained valuable work experience with Aardman Animation Studios (working on 'Gulp' Nokia N8 advert and an advert to be released next year), sand and ice sculpture company Sand In Your Eye ('Gulp' and sand drawing project in Barry Island) and have recently become involved with new animation company Digimator as a casual assistant, a position with various roles. I am currently doing voluntary freelance work for three different film projects, this ranges from designing characters and their puppets, to model-making, puppet-making, set-making and animating.

I am currently based in Brighton but have the aim to move to Bristol very soon.
