I've been working in digital and social media for over 8 years now, most of that time at Delib, part of Team Rubber here in Bristol.
During that time, I've worked in all aspects of agency life, from marketing, account directing, pitching and sales, to more internal day to day work like recruitment, target setting and data security management.
A lot of my work centered around public engagement, getting organisations connected to their customers and vice versa, either through software I've helped design, or through other platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Bebo.
It's hard to sum up 8 years of work covering such a wide range of clients and projects, so here are some snippets to give you an idea;
BBC Trust 'Save 6 Music' Consultation
Remember when the BBC Trust ran a consultation on whether to close BBC 6 Music? Well, they ran it using an online platform I designed and product owned, and I was also regularly on hand to help them manage what became the largest online consultation ever run in the UK
'Your Freedom' and 'Spending Challenge'
Back in the early days of the coalition government, the government wanted to collect people's ideas for laws to be repealed and money that could be saved. I was the lead consultant for these two projects, working with the Treasury, the Cabinet Office and 10 Downing Street. We got over a quarter of a million people across the UK to take part, and I even found myself introducing Mark Zuckerberg to David Cameron, which was a little surreal.
Macmillan Cancer Care
I love working with charities, and in a project for Macmillan, I designed and provided consultancy on a national project to gather service users' ideas on how UK cancer care should look over the next ten years. Hundreds of people took part, and I even integrated their online and offline project elements to maximise the ROI on both
HMRC 'Charterpelago'
HMRC wanted to create a new customer charter in consultation with both their staff and the general public. As well as a more standard online consultation, I helped them come up with a non-linear online game which people could play, where their game choices turned into consultation responses. Again, thousands took part and the project was shared as best practice across government
Worthy FM
I guess you don't work in digital for this long without learning a thing or two from the techie types you work with, so when Worthy FM, the onsite radio station of Glastonbury Festival, needed a new website and social media strategy, I was chosen to put the whole thing together for them, from web build to branding. Twitter followers rose 3000%, I got their Youtube channel videos over 100,000 views in two weeks, and the website's still going strong at http://www.worthyfm.com
