Brand evolution, Identity Development/Literature Design for Abbey International (Santander)

Abbey International is the offshore banking arm of Abbey National plc, operating out of Jersey, one of the world’s best regulated offshore locations. We were appointed to develop the differentiated service proposition and communications, aligning the International identity to the new positioning and widening its appeal to international high net worth audiences. Naming strategy and literature hierarchy was explored and this was then the basis of a suite of literature and communications. We continue to work within Abbey International as they launch and develop new products and services, driving ambitious plans in the wealth management market. ‘Duttons really grasp and understand our target audience and segmentation proposition – we’ve been impressed with the quality of creative produced.’ Susan Williams, Abbey International

Brand and Communication Review for Ecotricity

Ecotricity, Britain’s greenest electricity supplier, appointed Duttons to work with them to develop their brand and communications. With awareness of Ecotricity growing and more households becoming concerned about climate change, the brand needed to review its communications against the needs of a broader market, moving from challenger brand to mainstream power company and customer champion. We helped to define the strengths of the brand and identify a future development strategy that reflected the needs of its evolving customer base. We worked with the client to map all communications and to review copy and design to create a more effective and cohesive suite of material, and in so doing helping to push the brand ever forward to maximise its campaigning spirit.

Brand re-fresh and communications for The National Osteoporosis Society

The National Osteoporosis Society is the only UK wide charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis. Duttons was commissioned to broaden their appeal and review all communications. One of the society’s key roles is the provision of information and advice, and the promotion of awareness and understanding of osteoporosis. Historically, communications had been developed in answer to the needs of the member base rather than to the general public and wider internal and external stakeholders. We needed to ensure that the design work harder to improve the organisation’s ability to communicate with wider and multiple audiences, to widen the societies reach and appeal, and to improve understanding within key target groups. ‘We’re delighted with the outcome of our brand rejuvenation. Duttons is a pleasure to work with and feels like part of the extended team. Thanks guys!

Brochure Design for The Welsh Assembly Government

To develop new tourism brochure to reflect the brand and promote Wales as a tourist destination Visit Wales wanted to consolidate their suite of 3/4 activity magazines into one ‘Active Wales’ brochure. The new brochure needed to address the common negative perceptions of the destination. It also needed to engage the reader and inspire them to experience the Welsh landscape itself. To take advantage of user generated content and online information sources. Our design team managed the design, artwork and delivery of a 54 page multi-activity brochure. Key responsibilities included: • Working on the vision for the magazine • Design and artwork of brochure layout design and flat planning. • Working within the boundaries of the Visit Wales brand guidelines • Imagery and photo selection from client library • Reprographic stages • Final proofing. We took pains to capture the spirit of the brand, packing our work full of original thinking and a challenging spirit. We featured real people, uncoated stocks, stunning photography, dynamic layouts and carefully crafted editorial. "Thanks for you all for your patience and hard graft on this - you’ve been the dream team to work with. We love the magazine and were dead excited about getting the printed version." Bethan Richards, Visit Wales

Integrated Communications for Coleman

Advertising, POS, Merchandise, Promotional activity, Product Catalogues, Photography Coleman is the world’s only truly global outdoor equipment company and during our seven year relationship we’ve helped shape and evolve several brands within their portfolio, including Coleman, Exponent, Campingaz, and most recently Sevylor. We’ve been helping to build their brand presence within the UK and throughout Europe and our role as ‘brand guardians’ ensure we continually work with each brand to ensure the desired positioning is reflected throughout their communications and implemented consistently across the various European markets. As part of our brand work, we’re involved in trade and consumer communications, including advertising, POS, printed collateral, merchandising units and events. "Duttons' pragmatic approach is strategically sound and their creativity always exceeds expectations - a great team to have on board". Alan Edmondson - Brand and Comms Director EMEA

Identity Development for The CarbonNeutral Company

Brand evaluation and Implementation, Guidelines, Interiors, Promotional activity The CarbonNeutral Company is the world’s leading carbon offset and climate consulting business. They work with thousands of clients globally to measure and reduce their carbon emissions. It’s an aim that’s close to our hearts and we’re proud to be helping them to move their brand forward. Despite significant investment in developing concepts for a new identity, The CarbonNeutral Company was experiencing problems in making it work in the final stages. Duttons was appointed to find a solution and implement it - quickly. Drawing on the work that had already been done, we developed a route that achieved the brand objectives but accommodated commercial, practical and financial constraints. "Duttons came up with the right blend of creative thinking and pragmatic problem solving to help us achieve our objectives". Sue Welland, Founder of The CarbonNeutral Company

Customer Communications for Three Mobile

Identity development, Packaging, Literature, Customer Communications We have extensive experience in the fast moving world of mobile telecoms having worked with many leading global brands, both in the UK and Internationally. We’ve worked with 3G pioneer Three since inception and over that time have helped to build the brand through its business evolution and across a huge range of communications. We’ve helped to define the brand, created welcome programmes for new customers, designed customer magazines, and devised DM campaigns to encourage uptake of 3G services. We’ve also created multimedia messages for handset campaigns, written tone of voice guidelines, created packaging and POS materials..... we could go on. We’re proud to have played an integral part in building the Three brand and are continuing to help in the acquisition and retention of over 4 million customers. Comment posted 23rd March 2010: Duttons Design have undertaken 3 major peices of branding work for us in the past 4 years, and we could not be happier with the outcomes! They make a point of asking all the right questions and fully understanding what the business needs and brand objectives are. They have a very good and creative design team who consistantly hit deadlines and deliver excellent work. They have helped us understand and appreciate how important a brand identity is to our business, and how crucial a thorough and consistent integration of that brand is.

Sky retail development for BSkyB

Retail and trade marketing, Packaging, In-store merchandising With digital switchover approaching, technologies converging and new competitors and routes to market emerging, Sky required some fresh brand thinking. When Sky first went off the shelf it was a radical move – packaging the intangible and selling a high value subscription item in a self-service context such as Tesco or Argos. They appointed us to develop ways to deliver the Sky brand presence on the shelf. Having first understood the perceived barriers to purchase for prospective new subscribers, we tested and explored alternative packaging, with a range of sales propositions and different merchandising formats, in order to arrive at the right way to ‘package’ Sky and attract new subscribers. ‘All of your hard work, patience and continued determination were very much appreciated – everyone here is delighted with the end result.’ Sarah Lance, BSkyB
