I am a film director, designer and consultant, specialising in animation but experienced in live action too. I have directed ads for companies such as Barclays, Carlsberg and Lego and pop promo work includes videos for Elton John, Madonna, Rod Stewart, and Tom Jones and The Travelling Wilburys (Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne). I won a BAFTA for the title sequence to ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ and other TV graphics and title sequences include the titles for ‘Porterhouse Blue’ and ‘Testament’ as well as programme idents for BBC, ITV, C4 and MTV. I have made twelve short films including the award winning ‘The Victor’, and the successful adaptation of Babette Cole’s ‘Prince Cinders’ which was C4’s Christmas special in 1993. Aside from strictly animation work I have directed two short documentaries, including one on the Pixar director John Lasseter and devised and co-scripted the live-action film ‘Arcadia’ which won best fiction film at the Tampere Short film Festival. I directed two cinema feature films, ‘The Miracle Maker’, Cartwn Cymru for S4C/BBC/Icon Entertainment and ‘Otherworld’ Cartwn Cymru forS4C/British Screen and SKY/BBC Wales. ‘The Miracle Maker’, was an award winning animated life of Christ and featured the voices of Ralph Fiennes, William Hurt, Julie Christie and Miranda Richardson. ‘Otherworld’, with Ioan Gruffydd, Daniel Evans and Philip Madoc mixed animation and live-action to retell a series of ancient Celtic legends of love, magic and war.

In development is an exciting new animation/live action family feature film called ‘Doodles’, a blend of live action and CGI, as well as two TV series and a live-action drama-doc.

I am currently working as a freelance director, animation consultant, designer and storyboard artist. Collaboration is one of the joys of this industry and whether I’m heading up a crew or working with another director I like to be part of a team, working towards a common goal; I love the excitement that’s generated when creating new things with a bunch of creative people.
