Interested in photography while at school. Started making 8mm movies aged 15. Art Foundation course at Weston Tech. Photography and Film Production diploma course at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art.
1976-79 trained and worked at HTV Wales and West as assistant editor, dubbing editor, then from 1980, film editor. All genres from news to major international dramas incl. "Robin of Sherwood". 1989 left HTV to become freelance.
Past work includes corporate, music videos & commercials, but mainly broadcast TV - eg: Omnibus, Arena, South Bank Show, Arthouse, Everyman, Cutting Edge, Natural World, Legends, and numerous French, German and American co-productions.
Always been keen to understand new methods as they come along: trained on various gauges of film, then various video formats, been one of the early adopters of AVID, and Final Cut. I currently have my own kit (FCP) and cutting room, and have edited over 120 hours of screen time.
Activities include rock-climbing, caving, scuba, travelling. In 2000, I sailed from Bristol to the Azores single-handedly (and back), having fitted the vessel out myself for ocean sailing.
