For most people, Public Relations means writing news releases and getting press coverage. There is less in-depth understanding of the sophisticated theory and practice which drives today’s PR practice and makes reputation management such a key part of organisational success.

Today’s marketing and PR executive needs to understand the wider role that PR plays in corporate communications and the requirement to implement PR plans in the context of organisational goals, both commercial and social. To be meaningful and add tangible value, PR also needs to be measured and managed in such a way that it offers real return on investment, moving from overhead to added value.

This challenging day offers a broad insight into PR, what it is, what if offers and how to use it to your advantage. It offers practical tips and exercises designed to help delegates put together their own outline PR plan.

Key components covered include:

• Defining PR and reputation management
• Aligning PR with organisational goals
• Strategy and tactics – how they work together
• Unlocking the PR toolkit
• Media relations – proactive and reactive
• News – choosing it and using it

All full day courses are £125.00 plus VAT for members of professional bodies as described on our home page, and £150.00 plus VAT for non members. Half day courses are £50.00 plus VAT for members, and £75.00 plus VAT for non members.

Radio offers some of the most powerful opportunities for PR campaigns, but has its own specific needs that need to be fully understood by communications professionals. This popular event offers a revealing insight into what works and what doesn’t work in this context. The session offers a chance to explore the skills of the radio interview and shows how to ensure that your clients get airtime – and make the most of it. There’ll also be valuable information about the regulatory environment and audience profiles. And there’ll be a glimpse behind the scenes at GWR, now part of G-Cap, the group which accounts for 40 per cent of all commercial listening. Plus a chance to try out your own skills in broadcast interview technique.

Improve your Networking Skills

Networking is now more important than ever. If you are looking to find more work or are worried about redundancy, your next step could be down to whom you know, not what you know. You need to build your network and promote your reputation.

Yet for many, the thought of walking into a room full of strangers is enough to bring them out in a cold sweat. If you’ve been to a Media Tuesday evening before but not enjoyed it, are unsure about how to approach a group of strangers, or find it difficult to answer succinctly the what-do-you-do question, then you may want to come along to our networking workshop.

You will learn how to:

• read body language
• approach groups of strangers with confidence
• ensure your introduction is interesting
• end conversations gracefully and purposefully
• maximise your opportunities before, during and after the event

Imagine how good you will feel when you have some simple tools that can make networking really easy…

‘Managing your Mingling’ will be led by two of our preferred suppliers, Melissa Kidd of Coaching Creatives and Rob Hook of the Business CoPilot.

It will run immediately before Media Tuesday, the premier networking event run by Bristol Media on 29th September from 14.30 to 17.30.

The venue is The Loft at Goldbrick House, Park Street in Bristol

The cost per delegate is £47 (plus VAT). If two people from the same company book the second delegate gets a 50% discount. But hurry, as places are limited.

To book go to our online booking page here

The course will tell you how to build a features ‘map’ for your clients and develop client specific feature ideas. It will help you to think like a features editor and examine your ideas for relevance, strength of story, content and timing. Alongside traditional content, it will also look at ways in which additional mileage can be found in online media outlets and by thinking through the often overlooked visual dimension of feature stories. Finally, strategies to pitch more effectively make up the last module of the day, helping you package ideas better and increase your hit rate. Once they have completed the programme, delegates should be able to:

•	Find feature ideas for their clients
•	Develop effective synopses
•	Structure feature stories & outlines
•	Understand and exploit online content
•	Sell-in by email and phone

All full day courses are £125.00 plus VAT for members of professional bodies as described on our home page, and £150.00 plus VAT for non members.

What is Graphic Facilitation?

Its a powerful and impressive technique of using images, text and graphics to add meaning and sense to facilitation. It can capture the process and essence of a training sesion, or meeting or any group or 1-1 situation to help the people you support to gain greater clarity. It can enhance your ability to communicate key messages. You do not have to be an artist in any sense of the word to gain these skills as the training will break the techniques down into very simple steps.

Why is it important to learn.

As well as helping your clients to better understanding the process of a training session and the learning discussed it can create a visual record of meetings and training sesions. Its also a specialist tool for working for people who have been found to work in a more visual way ( eg young people, those with dyslexia, people with learning difficulty’s)

What will the training consist of?
A mixture of theory, games and exercises to give people the confidence to use graphics in their meetings, training and in general communication. All participants also get to take home a toolkit of their top 20 symbols specially created on the day to suit their facilitation style and content so they will be able to express their most common ideas and process visually, and a usb stick full of resources to enable them to continue their graphic facilitation practise.
Who are the trainers?
Myself( Angie Belcher) and Pete Le Grys who has many year’s experience as a professional Graphic Facilitator.. Let me know if you would like our full biogs!

The course costs £250 and there are some subsidised places left.

Please get in touch if you would like further details
