Jamaica Street Artists throw open their doors for the annual Open Studio. This exciting artist-led studio group have dominated Bristol’s cultural calendar over the past 12 months collecting new fans along the way. 2011 sees a wave of new artists including animator Susanne Baekby-Oleson abstract painter-poet Patrick Brandon and Aaron Sewards shortlisted for 2010’s Jerwood Drawing Prize. Other highlights include rising stars Anthony Garratt, Rose Sanderson and Abigail Reed, Vera Boele-Keimer recently awarded RWA Academician membership and Venue magazine’s artist to watch for 2011 Karin Krommes. For 2011 JSA will also be introducing the studio’s first official guest artist, selected from Stroud Valley Arts open studio membership. All that’s required to enjoy one of Bristol’s flagship Open Studio weekends is a healthy dose of curiosity (and stamina) to explore the buildings quirky maze of studios and hidden corners.
