Pervasive Media Studio Artists Residencies Showcase

06.30AM - 08:00PM | free event

Watershed

From smart objects which trigger music to a magical fusion of performance and technology, Watershed's latest artists residencies are focused on using technology to realise great ideas. Join us to celebrate their work, which explores the boundaries of music, dance, theatre, games and sonic art.

In February 2011, Watershed invited applications for artists to undertake a period of research and development at The Pervasive Media Studio. Two groups were chosen and over the last three months they have undertaken an intensive period of research, creation and experimentation to develop their ideas. This final event will include films of their work, a panel discussion and demonstrations of their work in progress.

An open call for a pervasive media project brought together playwright Sharon Clark and creative technologist Tom Burton. Together they are working on the The Stick House, an innovative theatre installation fusing performance and sensor-technologies to create a haunting yet beautiful piece based on Angela Carter's writing.

A residency focused on sonic art and music, supported by Sound and Music and St George's Bristol with Charles Hazlewood, was awarded to The Guerilla Dance Project : choreographer Laura Kriefman composer Tim Bamber, and interactive experience designer Robin Ray seek to 'find the dance in every-day life' and are exploring smart objects and gesture-triggered music for their dance-based games.

Please note, this is a free event, but tickets must be booked through the Watershed box office 0117 927 5100, or website: www.watershed.co.uk/exhibits/2944/

The South West Artists Residencies are supported by Arts Council England, Sound and Music, and St George's Bristol with Charles Hazlewood.
