If you are a practicing journalist wanting the opportunity to consider the impact of your work on your audiences, this is the course for you. By exploring some of the psychological antecedents of attitude formation as they relate to the news media, this course will equip you with the ability to understand the nuances of your practice. You will demonstrate a critical understanding of relevant psychological theories regarding the impact of news; analyse and reflect upon the nature of contemporary news, particularly in the political sphere; and effectively apply your knowledge of the impact of news to practice.
