Join South West Screen and the UK Film Council for a presentation and debate on the cultural impact of film at the Watershed.
How have British films had an impact on the way we see ourselves and the world we live in ?
You are invited to join a panel of industry experts at a special free event to discuss this and other related questions at Watershed from 3pm - 5pm on Wednesday 2nd February.
The debate will be followed by a reception.

Beyond The Box Office is a presentation of the UK Film Council's study Stories we tell ourselves - the Cultural Impact of UK films 1946-2006, followed by a debate about the cultural importance of film. Similar events across the UK and Europe have highlighted an emerging number of key issues including:
• How audiences perceive a film’s nationality and origins
• The influence of broadcasters, distributors and exhibitors
• How the arrival of the digital age affects the audience
• The importance of films in education
• How policy priorities for film help shape film culture
Speakers and panellists will include:
• Rebecca O’Brien, Producer, Sixteen Films
• Alison Sterling, Film Producer, Ignition Films
• Carol Comley, Head of Strategic Development, UK Film Council
• Caroline Norbury, Chief Executive, South West Screen
• Ian Christie, Professor of Film and Media History, Birkbeck College
• Bertrand Moullier, Senior Consultand, Narval Media
• Dick Penny, Managing Director, Watershed
• Mark Cosgrove, Head of Programme, Watershed
Many key professionals from the industry and allied areas will attend the event and participate in the debate.
