SIREN SONGS

08.30PM - 11:00PM | £16 (£14); £9 (£7)

St. George's

The interweaving themes of women and birds provide Siren Songs’ inspiration for a rich seam of evocative songs, readings and visual imagery – with birds as the eternal metaphor for freedom, beauty, flight and caged imprisonment.

The show is a multi-media event involving a quintet of outstanding musicians – including John Telfer (Royal National Theatre, Bergerac, the Vicar from The Archers), the award-winning international soprano Lorna Anderson, and the virtuoso keyboard improviser Howard Moody.

Visuals are provided by the animator Kathy Hinde – fresh from creating an installation at the Royal Opera House – and the Bristol artist Laura Cramer.

The second half of the show includes improvisations on the witch / crone figure of Baba Yaga, and contemporary takes of evocative folk songs – all book-ended by great show numbers from Gershwin and Piaf.

Siren Songs is a Bozarts event. Based in Bristol UK, Bozarts is a multi-genre performance organisation dedicated to expanding and transcending the concert experience – we tell unique narratives in words, music and visual projection. We offer fresh insights – challenging and stimulating audiences into new ways of thinking about music and culture.

The Bozarts blog is at www.bozartsevents.co.uk, and you can see short promo videos of performances on the Projects page.
