Alice in the Cities (Alice in den Städten) (Wim Wenders, 1974)
This Spring Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC) are screening three films by German director and producer Wim Wenders. The third is Alice in the Cities on Monday 21 June.
Alice in the Cities is a road movie shot in West Germany in black and white, with cinematography by Robby Müller. Reporter Phil Winter finds himself searching through cities with a little girl called Alice who is trying to find her Grandmother. The only lead they have is a photograph of a front door. A classic film from Wim Wender’s catalogue, with clear links to his later movie Paris, Texas (screened at KWMC on Monday 26 April at 7.30pm). Recommended by Mark Cosgrove of Watershed Media Centre.
