Fundraising in the New Economy

10.00AM - 05:00PM | £30.00 + VAT

Bristol YHA

“Informative and inspirational … I came back with lots of ideas to try out!”

In this new age of austerity, cultural organisations need to think strategically and develop essential business skills in order to generate income from sources beyond traditional funders.
Invest one working day in this crash course to refine your fundraising prowess and maximize your chances of success.

Who is the course for?

Staff of independent cinemas, film festivals, film societies and cross arts venues in the South West Screen region who work in the following roles:
- Management, operations and administration
- Fundraising and development
- Board members
- Anyone in a creative or business role who needs to understand fundraising for the film exhibition sector.

What will I learn?

- Understand the current funding landscape and find out what funding is available
- Discover how funders think and see your organisation through their eyes
- Find out the dos and don’ts of writing an application
- Get practical advice on researching and pitching to corporate sponsors
- Look further afield: European funding, trusts and foundations
Encounters International Film Festival

This course is run in partnership with Encounters International Film Festival, the umbrella festival for Animated Encounters and Brief Encounters, which together presents one of the world’s best-known showcases and meeting points for new and established international short film and animation talent. Encounters is kindly providing the venue for this course, and offering a 10% discount on festival passes for course delegates.
