The Bristol Transport Debate

07.00PM - 09:30PM | 30.0

Smith & Williamson Offices

As you will be well aware, Bristol has always been a major centre for transportation of both goods and people, acting as a hub for water, road, rail and air transport. But the city’s growth in recent decades has put enormous pressure on the system, and we at the IoD are in no doubt as to the significance of the present problems.

We are also acutely aware that it is not an easy issue to solve, which is why we want to get the public, private and third sectors together to help clarify their positions to help us understand how we must all work together, and look towards the future.

To this end, Chairman of the Institute of Directors, Nick Sturge, will be chairing a Question Time style debate, kindly hosted by Smith & Williamson, on 22nd September, with the following panellists:

Justin Davies – First Bristol

Barbara Davies – West of England Partnership

David Bishop – Bristol City Council

Leo Eyles – Steer Davies Gleave, an independent transport consultancy

Melissa Henry – Sustrans

We are working hard to ensure as broad a cross-section in the audience as possible, and with representatives from the airport, the trains, the cycling and motorcycling communities, road hauliers, water ferry operators and pedestrian groups?
