SUMMARY:A smarter planet: technology innovation and why it matters.
DESCRIPTION:A smarter planet: technology innovation and why it matters
A University of Bristol <http://www.bristol.ac.uk> Centenary Lecture
2 February 09, 18.00-19.00
Wills Memorial Building, Bristol
We are all connected economically, technically and socially through systems and processes. They enable physical goods to be developed, manufactured, bought and sold; services to be delivered; everything from people, money and oil to water and electrons to move; and billions of people to work, govern themselves and live. For the first time in history, almost anything can become digitally aware and interconnected. With so much technology available at such a low cost, the list of possibilities is endless. But being connected is not sufficient. We also have to infuse intelligence into our solutions and ways of working. The world has become ‘flatter’ and smaller and it must continue to become smarter. This presentation will consider the latest innovations and draw inferences for the future.
How to book: This event is free of charge, but must be booked in advance. Online booking for this event will open on our new website <http://www.ideasfestival.co.uk> from 12 January 09.
