First Light is the UK’s leading initiative enabling young people to realise their potential via creative digital film and media projects.

Funded through the UK Film Council and directly from the Department for Children, Schools and Families we administer over £5m each year, funding young people’s creativity, giving them a voice and ensuring they are seen and heard. The films and media projects our young people create cover many topics and genres, and make use of today’s accessible digital technologies to tell their stories with them in control.

First Light is at Encounters providing you with the opportunity to find out more about its schemes. Working with young people can provide you with exciting and dynamic hands on opportunities; widen networks of professional contacts; give you the opportunity to share your expertise and skills, as well as providing rewarding paid work on projects throughout the UK.

Join First Light at Encounters this Friday 20th @ 5pm (Cinema 2), to find out about its Young Film Fund and Mediabox, to discuss the support available and find partners to work with.

In addition, if you are interested in mentoring talented young filmmakers, please come along and to find out about Second Light (http://www.firstlightonline.co.uk/funding/second-light/) which is being delivered by 3 organisations across the UK, one of which is Bristol based Calling the Shots Films.
