Face2FaceFollowing the success of Face2Face last year the BBC is again offering the opportunity for up to 15 young people aged between 18+ from the local Bristol community to show us their skills and talent, receive in-house training and compete for a paid BBC work placement.

We are looking to improve the diversity of our workforce to ensure that we can better represent the views of people from all areas of Bristol.  Face2Face has a proven track record in attracting people from a diversity of backgrounds, helping us change the face of the BBC and enrich the content we produce.

 Programme:

  •  A three day conference from 26th-28th October 2011 at BBC Broadcasting House in Bristol. Participants will learn core skills for TV, Radio or Web production, meet staff from all backgrounds, and produce short films illustrating their views of the BBC.
  • A further eight workshop sessions at the BBC Bristol during November and December 2010.
  • A personal BBC mentor throughout the Face2Face project. (Mentors can arrange informal training and workshops; provide practical support and offer feedback and guidance to enable them to develop essential job-seeking skills).
  • Finally, a chance to compete for one of 3 paid work placements at BBC Bristol, working in News, Factual Production or Post Production for three months. Final places will be awarded following a formal application and interview process.

BBC Outreach will not select participants but invite community partners to put forward candidates who are serious about a career in the BBC, for final selection.

How to get involved:
Please send us a short video or audio recording of yourself (no more than 3 minutes long) or if you prefer a written piece of no more than 500 words, telling us about any experiences of film-making or reporting you have had either during your education, in your free time or though your involvement with a community organisation.  What was the project?  Describe your role?  What did you gain from the experience?

The deadline for applications is midnight on Thursday 29th September 2011. The best applicants will be awarded a place on the scheme.

Please send applications to Jo Sunderland, BBC Outreach and Diversity Producer, BBC, Room 2.24 25 WLR, Broadcasting House, Whiteladies Rd, Bristol, BS8 2LR
or e-mail Bristol.outreach@bbc.co.uk

Note
to partner organisations:

The BBC will not promote this as a positive action scheme or exclude anyone from taking part on the grounds of ethnicity. It is to be an inclusive discussion and exercise about diversity in its widest sense.
